Wightlink sponsored Ryde Rowing Club competed at Poole Regatta on Saturday, 25th May.
They had three fours, two pairs and two doubles and seven single scullers competing.
In the men’s Junior Coxed fours, the crew of Lars Groothuis, Joe Roberts, Isaac Gibson, Charlie Watts, stroke, and Harry Watts Coxing – the crew finished 2nd in their best performance of the season to date.
The Women’s Novice Four of Maggie Sanderson, Alexis Owen, Emily Kellerman, and Mai Read Stroke, with Ruby Read Coxing finished in 4th place
But there was a win, the second of the season, for the J16 Boys Coxed Quad of Max Locke, Lars Groothuis, Isaac Gibson, Joe Bird, Stroke, and Ruby Read, Coxing once again.
In the Men’s Senior Pairs event the Ryde pair of Will Hall and Paddy Kearney, stroke, finished in 6th place but the Men’s Junior Pair of Charlie Watts & Joe Roberts at stroke did better finishing in 2nd.
The Boys J14 Double of Max Locke & Joe Bird at stroke did exceptionally well to finish in 2nd place in their first race at the discipline and the Girls J16 Double of Alexis Owen and Emile Kellerman also sculled well to finish in 2nd place.
In the single sculling events Ben Sanderson in the Men’s Junior Sculls finished in 3rd place and in the Men’s Novice Sculls event Paddy Kearney. did not qualify for the final – did not qualify but Will Hall finished in2nd place.
In the Boys J16 Single Sculls - Charlie Watts finished 2nd while Lars Groothuis was 4th and in the Girls J16 Single Sculls Mai Read was 5th and Lottie Pettitt 6th.
