Wightlink sponsored Ryde Rowing Club celebrated another successful season at an Awards Presentation at their Clubhouse on Saturday (16th November 2019) where they were able to show off the famous "Bideford Bowl" awarded to the Clubs Senior Four crew for winnning the South Coast Senior Fours Championship at Dartmouth in September.
The Club President Peter Allsopp welcomed around seventy members and guests and thanked them for attending and for their support of the Club over the last year with a special thanks to the Clubs main sponsors Wightlink and the main sponsor of the Club Regatta – TLM Laser.
Following a presentation on the Clubs achievements in 2019 the Club Captain, Graham Reeve, supported by the Rowing Captain Joel Smith and President Pete Allsopp presented the Clubs Annual Awards. The Coxswain's Cup was awarded to Owen Barnaby, the First Year Oarsman Trophy was awarded to Harry Jones and the First Years Ladies Trophy to Niamh Edwards. Mike Ewing received the Oarsman of the year award and Emily Davis was awarded the Oars lady of the year award. The Coaches Cup was awarded by the Clubs Rowing Captain Joel Smith to Graham Reeve and the Committee Cup to Ollie Bottrell. The Captains Cup, awarded by Club Captain Graham Reeve, was presented to Ollie & Sarah Kearny. Finally the traditional "First Hants & Dorset ARA win" Club spoons – a tradition that goes back more than seventy years were awarded to Mike, Ewing Alex Miller, Mark Chadwick and Tom Hammond. There were also special awards to Andy Barker of AB Composities his work on the Clubs new Coastal Four.
The evening concluded with a substantial buffet, a photo montage and films of some of the seasons racing.
